Carers UK have joined forces with Standard Life to launch the first ever UK-wide Power of Attorney Day taking place on Wednesday, 22nd April 2026.
A power of attorney is a legal document that can ensure a person’s wishes are respected, should they be in a position where they are no longer able to express this themselves. Despite its importance, many people aren’t aware of it or delay setting them up due to misconceptions about what they are and how they work. Carers UK want to encourage as many people as possible to plan ahead, giving them clarity, confidence, and peace of mind for the future, and we agree how important this is. We have seen how difficult it is when powers of attorney are not in place, or if the ‘wrong’ person is chosen to be an attorney.
