I can do it myself!

There are many things we can do ourselves but dislike doing them, and many things we like but don’t have the time to do, and we are happy to outsource them.  Cleaning and DIY spring to mind, but many people love DIY and it’s even a bit of a hobby for them.

Baking is another – if you have a big birthday in the family, you can get a cake maker to do the cake, but you could also do it yourself if you love it and will make it look lovely.

When it comes to decluttering, we often think we can do this ourselves.  But it is one of the most put-off jobs that exist (other than tax returns, and given the time of year, I sincerely hope you have done yours!).

After all our sessions with clients, where appropriate (not always, in the case of someone with an illness/disability), we leave ‘homework’.  If a client wants to get ahead, they can do it, or we can help them at the next session with that task.   Sometimes, they’re insistent they will do it, and it just doesn’t get done at all, even after several sessions in between.  Some things are just better done with help, or being fully outsourced.  This is also one of the reasons we include taking things away to the charity shop as part of our decluttering session rate.  If we don’t take things away, we haven’t created space and we haven’t achieved what we set out to do.   When clients say they’ll take it themselves, they rarely do!   It’s a fact of life!

So if you are a procrastinator, or just aren’t getting it done, let us know and we’d be delighted to help you get decluttered, whether you are downsizing or not.
