Why your “pile to sell” is still clutter

So you’ve decluttered and you’ve got a pile of things to sell.  The thing is, keeping a pile of things to sell still means you have a pile of clutter.  Which isn’t very satisfying!

You can sell anything if you have all the time in the world to sell it and you price it correctly.  If you are imminently downsizing, or need the space for something (i.e., family moving in, maybe accommodation for a carer) you might decide that selling is not the correct thing to do.  For many of our clients, just knowing that someone else will use it is enough to help them decide to part with an item.

Charity shops are the obvious first step to give things away, but apps like Olio, Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace (as well as local WhatsApp or email groups) have their place when you have bulky items and / or items that the charity shop will not take.  Do consider these, as otherwise you may feel you are not making any progress.  Moving things out of the house will give a much greater sense of satisfaction for the task in hand.  Obviously if you have things that are worth a good amount, then do get them valued by an auction house, and send them off there.
