Why we never use paperclips

We are allergic to paperclips!   Do you remember the old word assistant ‘Clippy’ which was used by Microsoft 1997-2007?

It used to drive me mad because I’m allergic to paperclips – and there he was, winking at me all the time (I’m pretty sure I figured out how to turn it off, but it was almost 20 years ago, so I’m not 100% sure of that!).

But back to the paperclips.  Did you know the NHS in Manchester banned them in 2012 (allegedly) as they caused injury?!  And in many archives they won’t use them as they can rust.  I understand.

Of course, I’m not physically allergic to them, but my reason for why I won’t use them is because they can cause paperwork to go missing.   They do not ‘sit tight’ on papers.  And as soon as you put papers on top of each other, and then start shuffling said paperwork, something else gets stuck behind, and that is how you lose documents.

So what is the alternative?  Use transparent folders to separate things, mini bulldog clips, or my favourite, Supaclips.  These fellas shoot out of a dispenser, and you can get two different sizes.  No more losing of paperwork.

If you want to get organised, ditch the paperclips!
